Kittys Drawings

Hellooooo!
Hope you all had a great weekend! Was a ripper here in Melbourne. Mid 30′s both days and quite hot. Beer weather. Mmmm. Downed quite a few on Saturday let me tell you that. Our house was thoroughly warmed! Even the cops rocked up – so you know its a good party when they make an appearance. Teehee. Well we’re really not that wild – I think we just have uptight neighbours…considering it was barely even 10pm. Overreaction much?

So…Today’s sketches are to do with Concept Art’s Character of the Week (CHOW) comp. This week it’s all about Jousting in 2706 AD. Think futuristic steeds in zero gravity. Now I’m pretty hopeless at drawing armor and all that so I’ll see if I do alright. Might be a bit challenging but that is the point of CHOW. I drew some horses from reference off iStockPhoto and the last one is the one I think I will use. The first is really awesome and dynamic but would be exceedingly difficult to draw a rider on.

Thoughts on the last one?
I have to add a shield which will have a crest and/or sponsor on it. I can use the family crest for that
Plus, draw a lance and all that biz. Hmm.

Well – I promise if I don’t get too shitty at this I will bring back some colour to this blog.

Just a quick on cos its 6:04am and I gotta scoot off to work soon. I drew these yesterday and Tuesday. Some ideas for ConceptArt Character of the Week which I wont make on time but no matter – it was fun sketching. Bride of Frankenstein if you cant tell

And possibly the most AMAZING vintage 40′s silk suit I have ever seen in my life. If only I could afford the $325USD it costs! Seriously. I am scheming and planning ways for me to lay my hands on it. Though I’m afraid it may show my shopping addiction way too much if I were to purchase it as for that amount of money I could get myself a kitty and all the things the kitty would need.

For ConceptArt.org’s annual Self Portrait Day which was yesterday (November 1st) – This is the sketch and final piece. I think I like the sketch better actually. Didn’t have a lot of time for this one cos I only found the thread late in the day.

I was trying to draw noses. Think it turned out okay.

Sooooo – its Melbourne Cup this week. Got tomorrow off. Even though I had to work today. It was pretty busy at work despite there not being anyone there. So I got a bit done!
Tomorrow I will be hitting PoseManiacs and trying to draw some figures. Also might try and knock out Lorraine’s drawing AND work on the tattoo of Rizzo. Gonna be a nice quiet day inside DRAWING. Woo!

Other news – planted two of my little tomatoes today in their pots. Hopefully they start growing heaps soon. Yay! Just have to get some more potting mix for the rest of them.

Also – had our first dinner party sort of thing on Saturday which went swimmingly. I made little sandwiches filled with thinly sliced cucumber, mayonnaise, sour cream and dill. As well as cherry tomato, bocconcini and homemade pesto on crackers for entrees. Then the main course was roast pumpkin and feta risotto with thyme and toasted pinenuts. Phew! It was a winning combination and I was pleased with the results. Dessert was brought by our lovely guest -  lemon pots…basically a lemon egg custard baked in a water bath. So simple but DAMN they were awesome!

What’s this?? Two posts in two days? Omg! Heh. Only a quick one today. My train sketches were seriously dodgy and not really worth showing. Meh. Having a bit of a flat day actually. Think I’m tired. Fire up tomorrow yah!!

This was done using a photo as reference. Fun. Took an hour or so. Slowly getting the hang of painting in Photoshop. Now I have to try something bigger. Or draw from life. I left my initial pallette on there so you can see where I started.

So I’ve decided to bombard you all with my sketches.

This is all in my effort to actually get really good at drawing. For it to come relatively easily and so I don’t go around all pissed off at myself cos I’m not as good as I should be. Blah!

And ConceptArt.org has been super helpful in getting me inspired and figure out how to DO stuff. Like the last drawing – is me trying to render in Photoshop. Cos Painter was giving me the shits in that respect. Just can’t block in colours like I want to – reading a few tutes on how to do it in PS has taught me how to use the brushes properly. Well – I’m not exactly a pro yet but I get the idea. Now to translate piss-farting around to a finished piece. Eeep!

Well – expect more posts from me cos I’ll be putting up as many sketches and whatever as I can. If you don’t like it well I’m not too fussed cos this is all about MEEEE right now and my own personal development. If you want to stick around then that’s good! Yay!!

Not much goin on at the train station where I get time to sketch. This is my leg. Exciting?? Lol!
A bin. And the pigeon type bird that bobbed around for just long enough for me to draw it – didn’t stick around so that I could finish it’s legs though. Didn’t want to fudge their actual positions so lets just pretend it’s sitting on the ground yeh?

Okay so this is utterly shit but you gotta take the good with the bad alright!

Yay some colour! An apple or a tomato or what? You decide? Drawn without reference….figuring out that PS rendering and brushes. Was kind of fun this – took about 20mins or so.
