Flowers in Her Hair (Finished!!!!)

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

Hi All

Oh dear christ it’s FINISHED!!!
(yes I blaspheme far too much for an atheist ;-) )

*phew*

So this drawing took me around 2 whole months to finish. I started mid-June and now it’s August and I’m finally done. That’s why I’ve been holding out on you guys for so long. I don’t think I have the capacity to work on more than one drawing at once otherwise one or more will get neglected. It’s quite possible I am the most inefficient ‘artist’ out there.

The ref was a fashion editorial I found via a blog…..NEXT TIME….I think I might try something original for a change….I have an idea, just need to execute it somehow. Yes – I am already thinking of the next thing.

Sooo….This took at least 20 hours. I lost count though. It’s been stared at for so long that I can’t tell if you can tell how long I spent on this.

Anyways…piccies….

What do you think? Should I put this on Etsy?

Other news: Lots of sewing is complete that I need to show you as per usual…..ummmm……that’s all for now really…ha exciting! Oh! It’s been quiet around here cos I was feeling pretty sick this week. Stupid colds. I’m meant to be bulletproof!! Hah! (I don’t get sick very often)…Thankfully I was over it in 2 days but still…it knocks you for six.
The boyfriend also bought himself a motorbike. Cool huh! It arrives this week. But he can’t take me for a ride yet cos he’s still on his Learners. I’ve been convinced that I need to get my scooter license…So I guess that will happen soon.

That’s all I guess!
Better run! :-D

EDIT: Oh my GOD you won’t believe how relieved I am this is done. Geeez!

Portrait Studies – Geranium (Rather pic heavy!)

Hiiiiiiiiii!

Drawing time!

Woo! This one took me quite a while. I lost count of how many hours. Up to 8? I’m guessing though. I ought to keep track of these things shouldn’t I?

And some detail – since I’m making an effort to create bigger drawings…

geranium-detail

This I am very happy with. Feel like I’m making some semblance of progress with my techniques.

Where to from now? Should I concentrate on some drawing from life? Inanimate objects on my desk?

geranium-comp3

Not sure if I’ll get much done over the Easter break. I have friends visiting :-)

Other news: I organised my fabric stash. It has it’s own place now and it’s all neat and ordered by colour. Makes me happy to look at it. Though it also makes me want more time to sew. Also – I tried a machined zipper technique I found online. Used some scrap to test it out – and it was so easy!  A really nice, faced and bound zipper. Woo! Now to apply the same steps to an actual garment. I hope I can pull it off as it’s a proper professional finish. But I will show you later.

Time to gooooo.

Portrait Studies – Brown Eyes

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

Hi All!

Drawing time! :-D

Amongst all the crazy sewing I *have* been drawing would you believe it. This is something I did just quickly to keep me in the drawing mood while floundering on my other (more detailed) piece….which is also a lot larger. I’ve got such a bad habit of making these much too small.

I used a reference for this of course – and I can’t for the life of me find where I got it from. So I can’t link sorry.

I’ve still got issues with noses. Ergh.

After my current project is finished I’ve got some ideas for something new. Not Your Father’s Pin-Up are running a project where we draw an animal related pin-up which will go into a book to raise funds for the WWF. Info at the link – and yes, I’ve been a member for a little while there. Only posted one thing. Shame on me. This is a good cause so I should participate…and it will give me a chance to do something a bit more creative than these last few pieces. I like the WWF – one of the few charities I regularly donate to. :-D

Sewing projects coming up – that 40′s dress will get finished eventually…its nearly done but I’m a bit meh about it. Also, the charcoal pencil – which was a bit of a drama initially but it’s become the thing I’m most proud of. Currently cut out is some yellow gingham which will become a short sleeve shirt.

Giveaway ALMOST there – come on – one more follower! ;-)

Okay time to go!
Seeya!

Less drawing, more makeup.

‘Sup!
Another filler post sorry guys.
Been so BUSY this week and had very little time for drawing. Really do hope to get my latest pinup finished in the next few days.  The weekend was full of craziness – 4WDriving and Volkswagens (no we didn’t go 4wD’ing in a VW lol). Erm…Lots of coffee, vintage fairs and dress fixing.
ANYWAYS.

Just pics today. This is my latest lot of goodies delivered to me from Meg’s Makeup. Only paid $15 for shipping all these to me. How awesome is that! I really needed a new mascara too (the Urban Decay tube). Also got a lot of lip stuffs – which I should wear more often now I have it all. Annnnd a blush. Yay!

CHOW #196 – Wizard of OZ

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Hi!

All done for this week’s CHOW. I can’t believe I managed to go out Saturday, bum around Sunday, do life drawing today and STILL get this done. Awesome. Oh and I don’t hate it so much either. Omg.

Okay so it’s not fantastic but it’s better than most (all?) my other CHOW entries so I gotta be makin’ some progress. Plus this week’s theme was mega mega awesome.
So onto the drawings…
CHOW#196_kittymeow84

If you can’t tell – I decided to go with a whacked out junkie as my Dorothy. Tehehehehee. WHY? Cos I can. And you gotta think that whoever came up with the whole OZ thing had to be on something. I know it’s not the original but have you SEEN Return to Oz?? Cray-zee. The first one was bad enough.
Some progress pics (Click it to make it big if you so wish)….
CHOW work in progress

And how was life drawing I hear you ask?? FAB. Loved it!! Much better than what I was expecting. I shall show you my results tomorrow and talk about it in more detail.
Until then – BYE!

A new step forward….

Hullo!

After yesterday’s little wine-induced whinge and all your subsequent supportive comments I have decided to do something about it. Not one to sit around moping for too long, I’ve enrolled myself in a 9 week life drawing course at Guildford Lane Gallery. I had plans to sign up to a drawing course offered by the Centre for Adult Education (CAE) but then I saw this one on a link posted on Facebook which is cheaper, goes for longer and you get to participate in an exhibition at the end of it. Not to mention, they ply you with WINE too! Fantastic!
That said, I am very keen to try out the CAE options also, so as funding allows I will be joining on those too. They have a larger range of courses available and we shall see about the quality of teaching at both venues.
But I have always liked doing classes of any sort (kickboxing and yoga are in my repertoire hehe) and the Guildford Lane one is on Mondays and starts next month. What a great start to the week they will be – sure fire way to beat chronic Mondayitis.
YAY I am so stoked!

Now on to a couple of sketches from the last two days. Nothing spectacular, just the usual scribbles from the train. I struggle drawing faces quickly but postures and figures are much easier. Wonder why that is.
Scuse the huge-o-mungo pictures but you should all be used to that by now ;-)

Seeya later then :-D

Character of the Week – The Magus

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Sup!
So this is my entry for this past week’s CHOW – Brief for the project is in my last post (Just to confuse you!)….Overall, I’m pretty MEH about it. Didn’t have enough time to do what I want with it and I suffered from not thinking things through fully again.
I got some great tips from the ConceptArt peeps – Skip the backgrounds for now if you’re unsure about them and watch your values and anatomy. Yup yup got it :-D
