Stash Post #I-should-number-these-things

Hi!

Mini stash post!
Found this cool-as orange-y floral rayon (??) at Savers today. I think it’s rayon. I really have no idea. But it drapes beautifully and would be perfect for a killer 40′s dress with nice tucks and details. Yeh!

Kind of like one of these amazing Trashy Diva dresses. I would just die to have this. But it’s not high on the list of shopping priorities. So I’m happy I found what I did today because I’m sure there’s plenty of patterns kicking around on Etsy which will help me fulfill my dream ;-) Even if I can’t have the exact thing.

Other news:

  • I sold some drawings to the lovely Domestic Divinity which I’m very thankful for. My first Etsy sale! Yay! If anyone wants anything else just let me know and I can set up a listing for you. :-D
  • I’m currently almost finished on one wrap dress. The one out of the blue and white floral sheet. Its proving to be quite comfy and will be perfect for Fiji. It gapes a little in the bust despite the measurements saying it will fit a 30″ bust. That’s pretty tiny and there’s still LOTS of room. Oh wells, it doesn’t look bad. Pics soon.
  • I found the most amazing emerald green wool crepe (almost certain this one is wool crepe) at the Salvos which matches my Miss L Fire shoes exactly. It was fate I tell you. I’m going to make a 40′s dress out of it since the shoes are very 40′s in style. I steamed the heck out of it yesterday to pre-shrink it and I’ve begun the cutting too. It only just squeezes out of the amount of fabric I have.
  • Also scored from my Savers trip today…a white and green Zara v-neck knit – also perfect for the shoes! The thrifting gods are smiling on me I think :-D It will go really great with my sage green knee high socks and a black mini skirt. Or as mini as I’m okay with wearing. Mind you I don’t have this skirt yet. And I haven’t tried the remainder of this outfit to make sure it’s not too leprechaun…so…It might be FAIL.
  • aaaand finally….I have a drawing almost finished, of a gorgeous young Swedish blogger….once I get over my current hurdles with it. That’s on the plan for tonight :-D

That’s about it. Gee – another longish post when I though I was gonna be quick.

Hi All!
Having a great Sunday? The weather is perfect here in Melbourne – not too hot with a nice cool breeze.
Me and Jonny went to the annual Volkswagon meetup out in Cranbourne. It’s been 60 years since they made the first Kombi so there was a whole cavalcade of them from each year of production. Cool as! We also saw a whole tonne of Bugs and quite a few Type 3′s. Not very many Fastbacks like ours which is a good thing I think – our little car is quite unique! Jonny is full of ideas of what to do with it now. Yay!

So…back to drawing stuff. The last couple of days I’ve been working on this. Referenced from a photo – but she doesn’t really look like the girl in the photo – which I’m okay with. Trying out digital painting in Photoshop and only doing tonal values (black & white). I’m getting the hang of working in PS and may be even preferring it over Painter right now. Crazy huh! Hehe. This took a total of about 3 or 4 hours….lost count after the first hour :-D
I could have worked it a LOT more but thought I should leave it before I overdo it. Kinda like the roughness anyway.
As you can see in the work-in-progress (WIP) pics, I changed her proportions a bit….as I was going along I noticed more things that were a bit out of place.

It’s not quite her yet! A mate at work wants me to draw a sketch for his wife’s next tattoo. She wants Rizzo in this pose. Awesome fun to draw! I haven’t finished it yet – just getting the pose right. Which isn’t quite right yet….The feet need work! Doh!

Then add the right clothes and the right face. Hehe.

I drew this on the train home. Took about 25 mins tops. Inlcuding the first sketch I did which was terrible and too big to fit on the page. So I only show you this :-) And shuddup I know her hands look like claws! Boo! My travel sketchbook is only A5 and with my dreadfully scribbly sketching style it’s hard to do details when I’ve already charred up the page with my heavy mechanical pencil lead. So there ;-)

More to come tomorrow! I’m halfway through painting a cucumber in Photoshop. It’s going to turn out better than the cherry. Compositionally at least!
Lots of mad crazy posting huh. Seriously can’t stop thinking about drawing lately. Consumes almost ALL my thoughts.

Byeeee
