‘Sup!
Wow look I’m finished!
Once again I got a bit sick of it all towards the end. Really need to get better at drawing faces – however starting with the head is always hard. I find that proportions work easier if I draw the figure first and add the head later….but that means that I’ll leave the face til last and by then I’m usually well over the drawing.
Next time I’ll attempt to block in the majority of the figure first….do the face and THEN finish the rest of the drawing. Hope that works out better. Always something new learnt from doing one of these.

Some work in progress.

So yeh – not entirely happy with the face. Hmm. Thoughts?

Hi Everyone!
Hope you’ve all been having a fantastic easter and not gorging on TOO many eggs! Hahahaa kidding, eat away – I can’t deny anyone the right to eat chocolate.
Things in our household have been typically non-traditional. No easter eggs here. I think I’m over chocolate in chocolate form. Unless it’s Koko Black of course. Everything else is too sweet. I am becoming more partial to things like icecream and cakes oh yeh. Yum!
We went to see Clash of the Titans in 3D – which was good. Well….No worse than I was expecting. Which wasn’t much. It wasn’t groundbreaking cinema….but nice for the Sam Worthington factor teehee. I think Avatar kind of ruined 3D movies for me at this point. Set the bar too high. There wasn’t much added to Clash of the Titans by wearing 3D glasses – Alice was the same. It would be more worth it for movies that are made entirely in 3D like that How to Train Your Dragon which is out now – or which use the same technology which Avatar did. So until everyone is making movies like they did with Avatar, I wouldn’t bother paying extra for the 3D screen.
I do like booking online though – No waiting in line with the plebs at Melbourne Central hahahaa.
Been watching a few other films at home. Most notable was The Wrestler – quite depressing but very very well made. Perfect role for Mickey Rourke. Also another surprising one called Pandorum. No idea where I found it but it’s great. A sci-fi flick set on a spaceship heading to a new planet found to possibly contain life, where things go wrong of course – their hyper-sleep schedule is messed up and they wake to a ship overrun by weird creatures. That want to kill them of course. Great tension and quite a few plot twists and a fantastic ending. I was very pleasantly surprised – as much as I love reading sci-fi, the movies can often suck pretty hard.
Well onto the drawing….This is what has been taking up my time – in the same style as the last one….Kind of don’t like it as much. Meh. But it’s okay I suppose

Okay then well I better start thinking of what to draw next. And get some food. Hungry.

Sorry for the lack of arty posting lately. Been feeling in a bit of a slump. Still sketching daily but kinda not feelin it. However, I’ve got two client projects on the go which aren’t problematic at all which is excellent.
I think I have worked myself into a “MUST BUY NEW COMPUTER” mode and so trying to do anything on my clunky old laptop is getting me frustrated. I am entirely sure it’s just an excuse as I am known to do that. What for I know, it’s not like it’s benefiting me in any way to be always making excuses! TERRIBLE. But identifying the problem is only halfway (only a quarter even) there.
Soooo, even just writing this out is motivating me to get off my butt and back into it. Browsing the talent on ConceptArt always helps too.
But since I have nothing worth scanning at the moment, I shall show you some purchases instead. It was payday not long ago and of course I have a massive list of favourites on Etsy which I’m always itching to lay my hands on.
These are the items winging their way over to me from the US.
A stunning 50′s/60′s wool suit. Cos I don’t have a suit yet and this is so pretty and looks like a fabulous cut.

A navy vintage hat. I don’t wear hats generally and this is a good price and versatile colour so that I don’t feel too bad if it doesn’t look good on me. There are SO many beautiful hats on Etsy!

And finally, another dress….cos a girl can never have enough dresses. The colours are cute and summery and looks flattering. Thankfully I’ve gotten quite good at being able to judge what will fit me well without needing to try something on. There hasn’t been one online purchase I’ve made that doesn’t fit me.

I can’t wait til they all arrive! Cue postie stalking….NOW!
Ciao!

Hello Everyone! Today I have a new Art Jumble drawing for you. This week’s topic is “Emo girls” – a super fun topic actually they are fun to draw! Lots of peeps on Art Jumble seem to be happy about it too as there’s quite a few submissions this week. I had a rough sketch for this but it wasn’t what I used as the base – haven’t had time to get to the scanner at work lately. So I drew this entirely on the computer instead. It’s turned out pretty good I think! Emo always makes me think of bright, punky hair. And I know I didn’t add any accessories etc but thats not really my thing. Hmm. Took me about an hour and a half. While drinking a beer. Hehe. Anyways, this was quick… I need to start pushing my limits a bit. Have a couple more drawings planned so I should get onto those next week. Bye bye for now!

Hello!
Another drawing for you all. This one took a bit longer. About 6 hours or more. Lost count. Not sure if I’m 100% happy with it. Seems I get bored of a drawing much too quickly and I lose interest in finishing it. But I struggled through with this one. A little Paris Hilton inspired??? Teehee
Guess I’m still not happy with my drawing skills. Or I haven’t perfected my technique. I think I really need to develop stuff more. More details and a story behind the image. Though I do get over stuff very quickly. It’s always been my downfall – there’s always a new and better idea that I need to get out.
Sometimes it feels like my hands let me down – I can sketch easily on paper but working on the computer can still be frustrating. It’s hard to get the lines right and I’m particularly fussy about lines! Converting them to vector would be the solution but then I find those lines too harsh! Think I really need to experiment more with different techniques.
Whinge whinge. Please excuse me. Just feeling incredibly critical of my own skills. *sigh*
Anyways – what do you think? (I’m not trying to host a pity party here either guys so be critical
)

A little close up…

Meh.
